Manifesto

It's dumb to charge you money to listen to music that we make because we want you to hear it.  It benefits neither audience, nor artist.  On the internet everything is available for free if you know where to look or how to find loopholes.  Why bother making you jump through those hoops or shell out your money when we all want the same thing in this situation?  We all want our music to be heard.  The only person who wouldn't is a middle-man whose only stake in the equation was how much he could get out of us at both ends of the process and how little he could give us in return.

Our music is not for sale and neither are we.  We are performers who want to create and craft music on our own terms.  Music is about connection, not money, and we refuse to shift our focus.

We have faith in that connection.  We have faith in our fans.  If you like what you hear you will tell a friend, you will post our video on your status, you will list us on your 'listening now' on myspace or deviantArt, you will add us to your mix CDs, you will listen to us in your car and on your mp3 player of choice, you will mention us in blog posts.  More importantly, you will come to shows, you will comment back about our music, and if you get some money, you might decide to send us a paypal donation that lets us spend more time making the music that entertains you.

That's how the music industry works without the industry.  We have faith in the music and the power of the people who like it.

Final cuts of our music will be available for download, for free, from our official band website.  Like everything else we do it will be available for use under a Creative Commons License.  All of the music, artwork, written lyrics and any other creative material on this site that is copyrighted by the Lostfolk is licensed under these terms.

If you would like to sell something using any of our creative works contact our record label: Army of Squirrels Distribution.  Let us know what your project is and we can work something out.
