Debut! (Not perfect, but triumphant.)

Last night Jack and I played out for the first time at an open mic at Kelly's Irish Pub.  It's been a long time coming (all summer), but I still felt like I wanted more practice.  We haven't been that steady on them through the season what with being pretty busy with summer camps and summer jobs.  And of course the show with Brevard Theatrical Ensemble kept us plenty busy with rehearsals.

But, in spite of all that, last night went quite well!  We debuted 2.5 new songs, as 'Interlude for Too' is too short to be considered a full song.  We also performed 'Radio Tokyo' and 'A Night in Ariadne' which I got several compliments for after the set.  We brought back 'On Your Lips' from the Thomas Paine & the Founding Fathers days, 'The Beginning is the End' which was played a few times with Serious Gorilla and finished off the set with 'Cheatin' Android Blues', which seemed to bring some enthusiastic cheers.  It was truly wonderful to be back behind the mic and in front of an audience again, I have missed it more than I knew!

We were also fortunate enough to run into Liz of Calanthe!  Jack and I stumbled across her page on ReverbNation and enjoyed listening to her music, apparently she has done the same with ours.  In addition she is a tap dancer and a wonderful guitar player.  And her sweetie is a bassist who also plays the mandolin and bouzouki!  We have a band play-date for next Sunday evening, and I am super excited about it.

I have had 'Ariadne' stuck in my head all day, and hopefully we'll be able to get rough demos of all the new songs out within the next month or so.  But I am also hoping we will have a very different and evolving sound even sooner. ;)
